Students, volunteers and organizations making a positive impact in anti-littering efforts will be recognized at the Alabama PALS (People Against a Littered State) Governor’s Awards taking place Nov. 12 at Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery at noon.

The Governor’s Awards honors statewide groups, cities, counties and individuals that demonstrate outstanding commitment in the areas of litter control, recycling, local cleanups, environmental education and volunteerism.

In addition to the annual Governor’s Awards categories, PALS will present scholarships to winners of the 2024-25 Alabama Clean Campus statewide competition. The Clean Campus program focuses on implementing litter education and recycling programs in Alabama schools.

Alabama PALS also coordinates the Don’t Drop It on Alabama Spring Cleanup; Adopt-A-Mile and Adopt-A-Stream programs with the Alabama Department of Transportation, ALDOT; and Alabama Coastal Cleanup with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, ADCNR.

Sustaining sponsors and partners of Alabama PALS are Coca-Cola UNITED, Alfa Insurance, the Poarch Creek Indians, Vulcan Materials Company, Association of County Commissions of Alabama, ALDOT, ADCNR, Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, and Alabama Farmers Cooperative.
