Alabama’s unemployment rate increased to 7.9 percent in July

The state’s unemployment rate increased from 7.6 percent in June to 7.9 percent in July, according to the Alabama Department of Labor. That’s down from 9.6 percent in May. There were 11,048 unemployment claims filed in Alabama last week, up from 9,468 the previous week, according to the Alabama Department of Labor.
