The CBCI is hosting a series of town halls and mobilizer trainings across the nation on the most pressing matters of democracy and racial equity.
On Friday, Aug. 4, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell, D-Alabama, will welcome the Congressional Black Caucus Institute (CBCI) and Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Chairman Steven Horsford (D-Nevada) to Birmingham, Alabama as part of the CBCI’s “Democracy For The People” nationwide tour.
The CBCI will conduct a mobilizer training session from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to educate participants on effective community mobilization, grassroots efforts, and impactful communication techniques to drive social change. The training session is closed to the press.
In the afternoon, Rep. Sewell and Chairman Horsford will lead a town hall with civic leaders and advocacy groups from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Members of the community are encouraged to attend. The leaders will host a brief press availability at 1:45 p.m. This event is open to the public and the press.
