Former Alabama State Rep. Ed Henry, R-Hartselle, was one of many criminals granted a pardon by President Donald Trump on Tuesday. Henry was a loyal lieutenant to former House Speaker and convicted felon Mike Hubbard.

U.S. Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Alabama, supported Henry’s pardon.

Federal prosecutors said that Henry’s role in a Medicare scheme cost the government more than $150,000.

Prosecutors reported in court filings that Henry cooperated with their efforts against other defendants and recommend that his sentence be on the low end of the sentencing range. The charge carried a 10-year maximum sentence. A federal court sentenced Henry to two years probation.
