Birmingham mayor reappoints, adds two members to Birmingham Water Works Board

Birmingham Mayor Randall Woodfin announced Tuesday the reappointment of Lucien Blankenship for another term at the Birmingham Water Works, and the addition of Chris Rice to the board. 

Blankenship was initially appointed by Woodfin in January 2020 to the Water Works Board. 

Blankenship is an attorney with Blankenship and Associates in Birmingham, a member of the Board of Trustees for Alabama A&M and chairman of Urban Impact, an economic development nonprofit headquartered in Birmingham. 

Rice currently manages the finance department for American Family Care in Birmingham. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Miles College and is a board member and vice president of Fred Horn Industrial Baseball League.

“The Birmingham Water Works Board performs a major role in the oversight of the utility for our residents,” Woodfin said. “I am pleased to appoint these two experienced and trusted professionals.”

The appointments for Blankenship and Rice are effective immediately, according to the mayor’s office. Their terms expire on Dec. 31, 2024.
