State health officials say younger people are not seeking out vaccines as much as older people.

At one point last week, just 39 of the state’s approximately 1,600 ICU beds were available. Vaccine supply remains low.

A UAB doctor said the hospital could do more, if it had more vaccine.

Officials plan a marketing campaign and will use pharmacies, doctors and clinics to inform others when vaccines are available.

There had been 20,354 vaccines administered as of Monday, out of the state’s supply of 128,175 combined doses.
