Daniels: We have to get help to those who need it most

There is not enough help coming fast enough to the people struggling the most.  That was the message from Alabama House Minority Leader Anthony Daniels, who was asked on the “Alabama Politics This Week” podcast about the efforts of Alabama’s state government to address the COVID-19 pandemic.  [visual-link-preview encoded=”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”] “If you’ve never been poor, you … Continued

The conservative scam has been exposed

You’ve been had.  Surely you see that now, right? As the world burns around you, with you the last people to know, surely you conservatives can see the con for what it is. Wealthy Republicans have fooled you. Over and over and over.   All of those years of voting against your own interests. Of believing … Continued

Analysis | New guidelines, old opinions raise questions about Poarch Creek status

Is the Poarch Band of Creek Indians’ federally recognized status in serious question?  This is a question I would have laughed at a few years ago. In fact, I did laugh at it when the state of Alabama raised questions about PCI’s federal status in a lawsuit challenging its right to operate electronic bingo casinos.  … Continued

Analysis | Trump officially endorses Tuberville, crushing Sessions

Donald Trump could finally hold back no longer.  After weeks of refraining from interfering in the Alabama GOP Senate primary, the president on Tuesday evening tweeted his official support of Tommy Tuberville — a stinging blow to Trump’s former attorney general, Jeff Sessions.  “Tommy Tuberville is running for the U.S. Senate from the Great State … Continued

Albritton is back with yet another bad gambling plan

Greg Albritton is trying to scam you again.  After trying and failing last year to extend the Poarch Band of Creek Indians’ gaming monopoly in the state, Albritton is back again this year, with a bill that is, amazingly, worse.  Worse for the state. Worse for gaming. Worse for everyone.  Billed as the “billion-dollar plan” … Continued

The “rule of law” has some exceptions

The State of Alabama murdered a man on Thursday night.  Murder is what you call it when someone intentionally causes the death of another human for an unjustifiable reason.  That fits with what Alabama did to Nathaniel Woods.  Woods didn’t kill anyone. Everyone associated with the case agreed on that. And the amount of mental … Continued
