Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed joins national transportation advocacy committee
The National League of Cities represents more than 2,700 cities, towns and villages across the United States.
Montgomery Mayor Steven L. Reed announced Wednesday he has been officially appointed by National League of Cities President Kevin Kramer to the 2026 Transportation and Infrastructure Services Federal Advocacy Committee, which will help guide national transportation policy as Congress considers reauthorization this year.
Reed thanked Kramer for the appointment.
“I appreciate this opportunity to serve and thank President Kevin Kramer for the confidence placed in me. The TIS Committee plays a vital role in shaping transportation policy for communities of every size, and I look forward to working with local leaders nationwide to advance safer, more connected and more innovative transportation systems,” Reed said.
The 2026 TIS Committee is led by:
- Chair Joshua Simmons, commissioner of Coral Springs, Florida
- Vice Chair Bill Uphoff, councilmember of Lomita, California
- Vice Chair Chelsea Byers, councilmember of West Hollywood, California
The Transportation and Infrastructure Services Committee develops and advocates the National League of Cities’ transportation policy priorities, focusing on federal funding opportunities, safety, connectivity and innovation across all modes of transportation. With recent bipartisan federal infrastructure investments, the committee said it works to strengthen federal—local partnerships and support cities in accessing competitive transportation programs.
