Representative Terri Sewell, D-Alabama, will host a press conference and rally today at 10 a.m. CDT with state legislators, activists and voting rights organizations on the steps of the Alabama Statehouse to “demand fair representation for Black voters in Alabama,” according to a news release from Sewell.

The release says the event responds to efforts by Governor Kay Ivey and Alabama state legislators to “erase Black political representation following the Supreme Court’s ruling in Louisiana v. Callais gutting the Voting Rights Act of 1965.”

The Alabama Statehouse is at 11 S. Union St., Montgomery, Alabama 36130.

Sewell represents Alabama’s 7th Congressional District.
