The moves added specialty services from men’s health to spine care and osteoporosis follow-up, broadening access across central Alabama.
UAB Medicine said this week it is expanding specialty care in the Birmingham area with several new and enhanced clinic locations opening in early 2026.
The health system said the expansion is aimed at improving access to specialty care across central Alabama.
UAB Medicine opened new specialty clinic space at UAB St. Vincent’s East, where patient care began January 12. The site offers gastroenterology and urology services for patients in eastern Birmingham.
UAB Medicine also opened a second Men’s Health Clinic at UAB Hospital-Highlands, expanding on its original location at The Kirklin Clinic of UAB Hospital. The clinic combines urology, primary care, endocrinology and preventive health services in one location.
On February 4, UAB Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation opened its fourth clinic in Inverness. The location expands access to spine care, musculoskeletal medicine and nonoperative pain management. UAB Medicine said the clinic is operating in partnership with UAB Neurosurgery to provide coordinated spine and nerve care.
UAB also launched a Fracture and Fragility Clinic through its Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. The clinic focuses on patients at risk for osteoporosis-related injuries and is intended to help patients receive follow-up evaluation and treatment after fractures. UAB Medicine said the effort is designed to improve early diagnosis of osteoporosis and osteopenia and reduce the risk of future fractures.
