NFIB State Director Rosemary Elebash thanked Gov. Kay Ivey Monday for her strong support of Alabama’s small businesses ahead of Ivey’s final State of the State address on Tuesday, Jan. 13. Governor Ivey is term-limited and cannot seek a third consecutive term.

“Governor Ivey has stood with Alabama’s small business owners throughout her time in office,” Elebash said. “She has worked tirelessly to lower taxes, reduce costs, and improve workforce development so Main Street businesses can grow and succeed.”

She said Ivey was instrumental in raising the exemption for business personal property taxes to $100,000 and expanding the Alabama Community College System to include the Innovation Center to help prepare Alabamians for entering or returning to the workforce.

Elebash said that small businesses win when state leaders understand the challenges owners face every day.

“Small businesses are the backbone of Alabama’s economy,” she said. “Governor Ivey has listened to our members and taken steps to create a better climate for small businesses, and we thank her for that commitment.”
