Gov. Ivey launches poll to name turkeys for Alabama’s 76th annual pardoning

Gov. Kay Ivey announced Alabama’s 76th Annual Turkey Pardoning on social media Tuesday, inviting Alabamians to participate in naming the turkeys for this year’s tradition.

“It’s that time again! Alabama’s 76th Annual Turkey Pardoning is just around the corner, and our feathered friends still need names!” Ivey wrote. “Local students came up with some great options, and now it’s YOUR turn to pick!”

The poll, featuring names suggested by local students, allows residents to cast their votes until it closes at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

The Turkey Pardoning ceremony, a long-standing Alabama tradition, typically draws attention from across the state, celebrating Thanksgiving with a lighthearted, family-friendly event.
