There were 13,592 new unemployment claims filed last week, according to the Alabama Department of Labor, up from 11,624 the previous week.
Of the new claims, 7,685 are estimated to be related to COVID-19, representing 57 percent. That compares to 48 percent of the previous week’s claims.
