There were 12,087 new unemployment claims filed last week, according to the Alabama Department of Labor, down from 13,464 the previous week.
Of the new claims, 6,955 are estimated to be related to COVID-19, representing 58 percent. That compares to 52 percent of the previous week’s claims.
