UNA to hold Town Hall to address opioid crisis

The University of North Alabama will be hosting a Town Hall on opioid addiction featuring Attorney General Steve Marshall, Alabama’s Mental Health Commissioner Lynn Beshear, Acting State Health Officer Scott Harris, and State Senator Tim Melson.

The event, focused on fostering recovery and solution, was organized by State Representative Johnny Mack Morrow and the University of North Alabama and is scheduled for Sept. 27 from 4-6 p.m. in Norton Auditorium.

In addition to the State officials, Bryan Libell, CEO of Riverbend Center for Mental Health; Quinn Pearson, Chair of UNA’s Counselor Education Department; and Dr. Ken Kitts, UNA’s president, will also speak.

The event is free and open to the public.
